Manager

Leading project delivery

Overview

As a Manager, you are the point of accountability for project delivery. You will lead the project team, manage day-to-day client relationships and ensure Partners remain aligned and confident in the direction of the work. You will own both the “what” (project outcomes) and the “how” (approach, sequencing and execution), balancing delivery, people leadership and client management.

This role requires a step‑change from Senior Consultant: moving from personal execution to full ownership, exercising strong judgement, and confidently managing ambiguity. Managers at Oxbow Partners operate with high autonomy and are expected to define how work should be delivered, not simply execute a predefined plan.

Key responsibilities

Project leadership and delivery

  • Own the project approach, timeline and quality of outputs
  • Structure complex problems into clear workstreams and practical outcomes
  • Balance content involvement, delegation and oversight to maintain quality
  • Keep Partners informed, flag risks early and propose clear solutions

Client management

  • Act as the main day-to-day client contact, ensuring strong engagement and smooth delivery
  • Build credibility through clear communication, sound judgement and calm leadership
  • Lead stakeholder meetings and anticipate decision-maker needs

Team management and development

  • Coach junior consultants through guidance, feedback and development support
  • Delegate effectively while retaining accountability for final quality
  • Support career development through line management, coaching and performance reviews

Business development and firm-building

  • Build client relationships and identify opportunities to deepen engagements
  • Develop thought leadership and intellectual capital that strengthen the Oxbow Partners brand
  • Contribute ideas that support firm growth

What success looks like as a Manager

  • You own outcomes, not just tasks
  • You manage ambiguity with confidence and maintain a calm leadership presence
  • You are trusted by clients and Partners to solve problems without constant escalation
  • You can operate without a playbook and shape a clear path forward
